Privacy policy

markSend sends what you ask it to send, from your device to your own reMarkable account. We operate no server in that path, we never see the pages, and there is no account to make with us.

Who is responsible

BeyondSimulations GmbH is the controller for this website in the sense of Art. 4(7) GDPR. Contact details are at the bottom of this page and in the imprint.

What you send

When you send a page, markSend fetches it, converts it on your own device, and uploads the result into your reMarkable account. The article or PDF goes from your device to reMarkable's servers and nowhere else. We never receive it, never see which pages you send, and keep no history of them beyond the list held locally on your own device.

Your reMarkable token

Pairing with your tablet produces a device token. markSend stores that token in the Keychain, shared between the app and its two extensions, and uses it only to talk to reMarkable on your behalf. Unpairing removes it.

The page you are sending

To fetch the article or the PDF you asked for. markSend reads only the page you send it; it does not read your browsing history, your other tabs, or any page you have not acted on.

reMarkable cloud

To sign in with your pairing code, refresh the token, and upload the document into your own account. Your use of that service is governed by reMarkable AS's own terms and privacy policy.

Apple (App Store / StoreKit)

To show regional pricing, complete or restore the one-time purchase, and check your entitlement. Those requests are handled by Apple under your App Store account. markSend sends no documents, settings, or usage data through StoreKit.

The send queue and notifications

A send made while you are offline is held on your device until it can be retried, which means the page's contents sit in markSend's own container until it succeeds. Once it lands, that copy is deleted. If you allow notifications, they are produced locally on your device to tell you a held send finished; nothing is sent through a notification server of ours.

Settings and logs

Preferences (your chosen destination folder, per-site defaults) are stored locally in the app group shared by the app and its extensions. Diagnostic logs stay on your device and are never uploaded.

No analytics, no telemetry

The app contains no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising, and no third-party tracking code. It does not phone home on launch, on send, or on error. There is no account with BeyondSimulations, because there is nothing for an account to hold.

Your rights

GDPR gives you the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and objection, and the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In practice we hold no personal data about app users to which those rights could attach. If you write to us, we keep your mail only as long as needed to answer it.

This website

This site is static. It sets no cookies and embeds nothing from third parties. Its fonts are served from this same site, so visiting it does not contact an external font provider. Our hosting provider processes the usual connection data (IP address, requested page, timestamp) in server logs for the purpose of delivering and securing the site, on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

We count visits with Umami, which we run ourselves at umi.byndsim.com on servers in Germany. It records the page you viewed, the site that referred you, and rough details of your browser, operating system and country. Your IP address is used to work that out and is not stored. The numbers are aggregate, they are shared with no one, and they do not leave the EU. Umami sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, so no consent under § 25(1) TDDDG is required and you will not be shown a banner asking for it. Legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: our interest in knowing which pages are worth keeping. The app itself still contains no analytics.
